On Wednesday, Chelsea Handler released some details about her upcoming Netflix talk show and also revealed that the show will premiere on May 11. The former host of "Chelsea Lately" issued a handwritten letter that acted as a press release on her social media accounts.
Handler and Netflix officially teamed up in 2014 for a deal that included stand up specials, a documentary series and her own talk show. Netflix already released Handler's special "Uganda Be Kidding Me" and premiered her four-part docusseries "Chelsea Does" in Janurary.
In the letter addressed to "Dear You," Handler revealed that her talk show on Netflix will be 30 minutes long and will release new episodes three times a week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
"You'll be traveling around the world and learning new things all courtesy of Netflix," Handler wrote in the letter. "Treat this as an opportunity to get the college education you forgot to get."
She also revealed her "dream guest list" which included First Lady Michelle Obama, Pope Francis and Arnold Schwarzanegger's maid. "When interviewing respected public figures, ask yourself, 'What would Byron Allen do?' Then, do the opposite," she wrote.
While Handler gave out tons of information about her new talk show, she did not reveal the name because the show is still untitled. Handler has been asking fans to come up with a name for the show on her Twitter account and will announce the winning title on Thursday during a live press conference. Fans can participate by going to Handler's Twitter and Facebook accounts.
Details of my new @netflix talk show are being released this week so it needs a name," Handler tweeted." They rejected "Chelsea Later" Tweet me title ideas."
This will be Handler's first talk show since she left her E! show in August 2014 after hosting the show for seven years. Her new show with Netflix will be produced in Los Angeles with former executive producer of "The View," Bill Wolf as producer. This will be the first talk show Netflix has ever done and the show will have a "loose format."
"I'm going to implement a lot of the stuff from the docuseries because that turned out really well," Handler said. "There will be a studio portion too, but I want to keep the format loose so it's fun and different every night."
