'Bloodborne' Is Getting An Official Card Game

"Bloodborne," the PlayStation exclusive video game by FromSoftware which features things that go bump in the night and the Hunters who slay them while keeping their humanity intact, will soon be leaving the TV screen and coming to your table in the form of a card game.

The news was revealed by the man who intends to make the card adaptation, board and card game designer Eric Lang.

He followed up on the tweet to confirm that "Bloodborne is indeed licensed. It is a simple but highly deep and interactive card game. From @CMONGames." He noted that while there won't be any miniature Hunters or spooks that you can move around, there will be other "sweet components."

Details about how the game will work are scarce. Lang noted the play will not be based on the story, but on the Chalice Dungeons - randomized dungeons filled with monsters, loot, traps and even horrific bosses waiting for you at the end. Lang describes it as "risk management with a bit of groupthink, inventory management/upgrades and tactical play in an intense 30-minute card game."

Lang concluded his announcement by detailing that his intent was to capture the feelings and emotions experienced in the actual game and translate it into a functional card game.

"My goal with Bloodborne was to channel the intensity and frustration of the video game into a contest between players. Lots of death," he said.

The idea of a card game based on "Bloodborne's" Chalice Dungeons is certainly interesting. As many would tell you, that aspect alone brought much of the meat to a game essentially devoid of a post-game. As such, it would be interesting to see how this game turns out. The only thing that remains to be seen is if the concept will have widespread appeal among "Bloodborne's" fanbase or only the fraction of them who already play card games.

Either way, while Lang confirmed that the official Bloodborne card game is already licensed, he gave no mention as to when it's slated for release or how much it will cost when it does come out.
