British travel booking site, LastMinute.com, has publicly announced that the company is willing to move its customers to a different hotel should they find that presidential candidate, Donald Trump, is staying at their selected destination. The company calls this program the "Trump the Trump."
The booking site said that it would like to guarantee its U.K. customers an enjoyable holiday in the United States, without experiencing any incident that they could arise from the controversial candidate's campaign trails. Guests can request this at no cost. The company will immediately look for a hotel room in the same area and the same price range as originally booked by guests.
"Love him or loathe him, it's one thing seeing Donald Trump's hair-raising speeches on TV but it's quite another having to spend the night with him," a spokesperson for LastMinute.Com said. "That's why our primary goal is to ensure that our customers have the option of a quick exit to more tranquil Trump-free surroundings if they wish so."
A British national who has made travel arrangements through the site's service need only send an email to LastMinute.com with his or her booking number for reference and proof that Trump is in the hotel. The "Trump the Trump" program is only offered until March, but the travel site indicated it might be open to extending this arraignment.
Lastminute.com also suggested other alternative holiday destinations, such as Mexico, for their guests' travel plans to ensure that they will have a Trump-free experience "[It's] very popular with our customers but certainly not on Mr. Trump's bucket list judging by his latest comments," the company stated.
Meanwhile, Trump doesn't normally stay over on stops on his campaign trail, but he did get a booking at the Holiday Inn Express during the Iowa caucus, which took place for two days. A hotelier himself, Trump had a pleasant stay at the new hotel. "It's different and it's certainly not Mar-a-Lago," Trump said. "I actually enjoyed it. It was good, it was clean."
The "Trump the Trump" program isn't the first marketing pitch that's riding on the heat of this election season. Kayak, another travel site, sponsored a sweepstakes contest for Americans who would like to get away from election issues and banters between candidates. The prize is a one-way ticket to Canada.
