Chloë Grace Moretz revealed in an interview that she rejected an invitation to join Taylor Swift's inner circle!
"The 5th Wave" star, who features on Complex magazine's April/May cover, said that she was asked to join the "Bad Blood" singer's squad at some point.
Although the 19-year-old actress did not mention exactly why she turned down Swift's invitation to be a part of one of the most sought-after celebrity circles, she did say a few words about the star-studded girl gang, which includes Moretz's close friend Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne.
When asked about whether or not she had been invited to join Swift's squad, Moretz replied,"Yes," but refused to elaborate. "You know I can't!" she said when pushed for details. "She's a very talented person," the actress answered
Moretz did not reveal any details on the subject, but did express her feelings about Hollywood's squad craze. "They appropriate exclusivity," she told the magazine. "They're cliques!"
A known feminist, Moretz then went on to define the meaning of gender equality. "It's not just about women being powerful," she said. "It's about races being powerful; genders being powerful."
So, what did she have to say about playing the role of Ariel in the live-action remake of "The Little Mermaid," which has drawn criticism from the feminist community for its depiction of a girl, who sacrifices her voice for a man?
"We want to make this good for girls," she explained. "We can't make this regressive tale in a modern world. We're going to flip it on its head. It's going to feel good for women and men in the sense that it's not just appropriating feminism, and it's not leaning on regressive stereotypes."
Moretz also opened up about being afraid to voice her opinion when she was younger. "There were definitely moments when I was 13 or 14 and was worried about not being liked if I spoke out," she said. "I realized that this forced, societal feminist outlook of how women should be - they should feel sorry for speaking out."
The actress, who will next be seen in "Neighbors 2," went on to say that even though she's opinionated, she wants to be "America's sweetheart."
"I want to be beloved. I want to be an indie queen, but I want people to really love me and what I've done and let me be a part of their lives at home," she added.
