According to new rumors, "Game of Thrones" actor Jason Momoa is being eyed to play a villain in the sequel to "Man of Steel." According to Variety, sources revealed that the 34-year-old actor is in talks to be in the movie but what role he's after has not been revealed.
However, there are rumors that Momoa could be cast as DC Comics Doomsday, a Kryptonian scientifically engineered monster. The character is probably best known for "killing" Superman in the 1992 comics.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was hinted in the Blu-ray special of "Man of Steel" that Doomsday could be in the new movie but their sources think the actor could be cast as Martian Manhunter, a superhero alien from the planet Mars.
If cast, Momoa would join Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ben Affleck (Batman) and Henry Cavill (Superman).
In other casting news, Denzel Washington and Idris Elba have been rumored as the frontrunners to play Lex Luthor. Sources told Thinkmcflythink.com, that Washington and Elba have both been approached by Warner Bros.
The source also said "a certain re-occurring [African-American] cast member from 'Arrow' is in talks to play Lex Luthor. The source didn't say which actor but that could mean both David Ramsey and Colin Salmon could nab the role.
Actor Callan Mulvey's name has come up in casting rumors. According to Variety, Mulvey was approached to play a villain but again, which specific role is being kept under wraps. There were rumors that he could be cast as Metallo, a villain who wears a metal body suit and has a Green Kryptonite heart.
The "Man of Steel" sequel is scheduled to hit theaters July 17, 2015.
