New court documents filed by George Zimmerman's lawyer showed that his girlfriend, who called police saying that he'd pointed a long-barreled shotgun in her face, has no desire to press charges and wants to be with him instead.
"I do not want George Zimmerman charged," a sworn statement from girlfriend Samantha Scheibe filed by attorney Jayne Weintraub read.
30-year-old Zimmerman currently faces a felony aggravated assault charge in addition to a few lesser charges after an argument with Scheibe escalated, the Associated Press reported. According to the 911 call, Scheibe said Zimmerman was wielding a firearm in her direction while breaking her belongings in a blind rage. He then reportedly locked her out of the house, using furniture to barricade the door.
But Scheibe's new affidavit logged on Dec. 6 states that she may have exaggerated the situation.
"When I was being questioned by police I felt very intimidated...I believe that the police misinterpreted me and that I may have misspoken about certain facts in my statement to police," the document read. Scheibe also added that the Zimmerman "never pointed a gun at or toward my face in a threatening manner," and "I want to be with George."
Scheibe was reportedly pregnant with Zimmerman's child, but that fact hasn't yet been confirmed.
George Zimmerman was acquitted for the murder of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin earlier this year, and has encountered multiple scuffles with the law since then. Following the latest incident, Zimmerman's bond was posted at $9,000 and he was instructed to give up his various firearms, wear an ankle bracelet, and stop all contact with Scheibe.
In Scheibe's original 911 call, the woman can be heard informing law enforcement that Zimmerman was "inside my house breaking all my [things] because I asked him to leave." She then says to someone else, "I'm doing this again? You just broke my glass table. You just broke my sunglasses and you put your gun in my freaking face and told me to get the [expletive] out."
When police arrived at the Florida home, Zimmerman told officers that Scheibe had provoked the argument.
