Tracy Morgan Reveals He Almost Committed Suicide After Fatal Car Accident

Tracy Morgan has opened up about life after his near-fatal car accident two years ago and revealed that he nearly committed suicide as he recovered from the crash.

Morgan was in a coma for eight days after suffering a brain injury during a highway car accident in June 2014 on the New Jersey Turnpike, when an 18-wheeler Walmart truck rammed into his limo bus, killing his friend James McNair and seriously injuring two other passengers.

"I said, 'If my funny ever went away, I'd die,'" the comedian said in an interview. "And I thought I was going to die for a long time. My thoughts - I was in a very dark place. I was sitting right here, contemplating suicide. I couldn't walk."

The "30 Rock" star said that he's pretty sure he went to the other side in his coma-induced state, where he visited his late father Jimmy Morgan, who died of AIDS in 1987. "He was the one who said, 'Go home, son. I ain't ready for you yet,'" Morgan said. "I don't think I cheated death. I think this was the plan. My room wasn't ready."

The comedian didn't come empty-handed from his trip to heaven, though, as he revealed that he feels his comedy is better than ever. "Maybe when I was in heaven, Richard Pryor said something to me," he quipped. "I feel funnier than I ever felt."

Morgan went on to state that he still has a lot of things to take care off before going up there, like raising his family, which includes his wife Megan Wollover and their 2-year-old daughter.

"I still have shit here to do," he said. "It's gonna take more than 18 wheels for me to get out of here. I have to raise my girl, raise my wife, raise my family."

In the interview, Morgan also spoke about losing his friend and fellow comedian McNair, a.k.a. Jimmy Mack, in the crash and said that he felt responsible for his death because he was in the vehicle because of him.

"Emotionally, it's hard for me to deal with," Morgan said. "I asked everybody to be there that night. I have to live with that. But I had to forgive myself. I know Jimmy would want it like that."
