Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have officially flown the coop! The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star and her hip-hop artist husband moved out of her mother Kris Jenner's home in Calabasas, Calif., and are currently living in the Bel Air, Calif., home they purchased three years ago.
The West family purchased their $11 million Bel Air mansion in 2013, but immediately started renovations on the property with plans to resell. To avoid a constant construction zone, they moved in with Jenner that year and remained at her home even after the Wests welcomed their first child, daughter North West, that June.
In early 2014, the Wests decided the Bel Air property wasn't suitable for their small family, so they bought a $20 million estate in Hidden Hills, Calif., and moved in shortly afterwards. However, a kitchen, bathroom and closet renovation project forced them to move back in with Jenner last September.
The West family grew when Kardashian gave birth to their second child, son Saint West, last December, and they decided it was time to move into their own home now that they've become a family of four. Renovations at the Bel Air home were completed a few months ago, and the Wests will be living on the property temporarily. It's currently listed on the market for $20 million, and they plan to move into the Hidden Hills estate once they sell the Bel Air property.
"When we bought our Bel Air house, we didn't have a baby, we weren't even pregnant," Kardashian explained to People about their decision to sell their first home. "After you have a baby, you realize that you need so many other things and a different kind of space. So being in the city is a different life. We wanted to be away and have more privacy."
With the Wests settling into their temporary residence, Jenner will officially become an empty nester again, which may ease tensions between her and her daughter. During an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" last May, Kardashian explained why she felt it was best for her and her family to move out of Jenner's home.
"People didn't understand why we lived with my mom," Kardashian said. "After a year and a half, she got really crazy with us and pretty much, not kicked us out, but just was really anxious to get us out. She thought I just got too comfortable, and I was starting to rearrange all her furniture and order different wallpaper. I was going crazy with some of the things in her house, so I wanted to make changes and she wasn't having it. It's better that we're out."
