NBA star Kyrie Irving has broken his silence regarding his former girlfriend, R&B singer Kehlani, and her alleged suicide attempt earlier this week. The Cleveland Cavalier took to Twitter to post a series of now-deleted posts in which he cleared up her alleged cheating rumors.
Kehlani (full name Kehlani Parrish) posted a photo to Instagram of her heavily tattooed arm hooked up to an IV in a hospital. In the caption of the now-deleted post, she revealed that she had attempted suicide after rumors that she had cheated on Irving with her ex-boyfriend, rapper PARTYNEXTDOOR (real name Jahron Anthony Brathwaite), caused her severe distress.
"It's been hard to see what's been going on and not address the truth," Irving wrote in a series of deleted tweets (via The Shade Room). "I do not justify the picture or what dude did to try and spark all of this non sense that could have been avoided, but Me and Kehlani were not dating when the picture came out."
Irving referenced PND's now-deleted Instagram photo that captured an intimate moment with Parrish, which is what started the rumor that she had cheated on him with her ex. In the shot, Brathwaite held onto the "You Should Be Here" singer's tattooed hand, and he wrote "After all her shenanigans, still got the R&B singer back in my bed" in the caption.
Parrish addressed the rumor in her Instagram post following her alleged suicide attempt and wrote, "Don't believe the blogs you read .. No one was cheated on and I'm not a bad person... Everyone is hurt and everyone is in a place of misunderstanding. But as of today, I had no single wish to see tomorrow.. But God saved me for a reason and for that... I must be grateful."
Ever since news broke of her apparent suicide, she's received an outpouring of love and support from fans and celebrities- except for Irving's friend, R&B singer Chris Brown. The "Loyal" singer slammed Parrish in a series of mean-spirited tweets and said that her suicide attempt was just a sympathy plea. However, Irving made it clear that he does not share Brown's views.
"It's unfortunate that it's received so much attention but its become bigger because of a post that was misunderstood," he continued. "Nothing but love and compassion over this way for her and her family. My only focus the Game I love to play every night."
