Not a whole lot is known about the Harry Potter spinoff "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," starring Eddie Redmayne, coming later this year. But it does sound as if we'll learn a bit more about the mysterious picture at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards.
MTV announced today that it will debut an exclusive sneak peek of the highly anticipated magical movie at the Movie Awards this year. Redmayne, who stars as Newt Scamander in the film, will present some exclusive never-before-seen footage during the broadcast.
The event will be hosted by Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart and will air on Sunday, April 10 at 8:00 pm ET. You can check out a previously released teaser for "Fantastic Beasts" below.
The 2016 MTV Movie Awards will include A-list presenters such as Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Jessica Chastain, Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Olivia Munn and Gigi Hadid. Will Smith is set to receive the Generation Award and additional presenters and performers will be announced closer to the event date.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will deliver an all-new adventure in the wizarding world created by J.K. Rowling, who also makes her screenwriting debut with this film. As mentioned before, Academy Award winner Redmayne will take on the lead role of Newt Scamander and David Yates, who helmed the final for Harry Potter films, will direct.
Here is the official synopsis from Warner Bros.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident...were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt's fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds."
The film will hit theaters on Nov. 18, 2016.
