Guitar Hero Developers Make New Fitness Tracking Game For Cardio Equipment at Home or In The Gym

The line between fitness and gaming is growing thinner and thinner as time goes on and technology improves. First people had Nintendo's Wii Fit games which then jumped to Xbox's Kinect. Next game other motion-centric titles like Just Dance and the like. Now instead of your workout going to the games, the games will now come to your workout.

Blue Goji, a fitness game from the makers of the popular music simulator Guitar Hero, has come to enhance your current workout regiment. The game can be viewed on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch and shows you an animated avatar that might be in a boat race or boxing match. Whatever the situation your animated self finds him or herself into, all speed and power will come from the user's body thanks to Goji's fitness tracker, either in your pocket or clipped to your belt-line.

The only other hardware necessary to play the game is the two controllers, each with two buttons, which will fit on the handles of any cardio equipment at the gym or in your home such as ellipticals and bikes. However, Blue Goji ships with two foam batons that can be substituted to make holidng controllers easier when walking or running, according to Mashable.

The app that runs the game is completely free to download and syncs directly with the activity tracker via a Blluetooth 4.0 connection. The app will provide metrics on your workouts over time, which can be synced with MyFitnessPal.

Each level in the game is two minutes and some games have up to 30 levels, meaning you could potentially fill a 60-minute workout.

It's worth noting that the app can be controlled entirely through the controllers, meaning there will be no need to touch your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch with sweaty fingers.

Blue Goji costs $99.99 and the free companion app currently features eight games to download separately and is compatible with all iOS devices including iPhone 4S, iPad 3, iPad Mini and all fifth-generation iPod Touch devices. This number of game levels is expected to grow.
