Certainly a car fit for royalty, the new black Bentley Flying Spur (which is notably bulletproof) that Prince William and Kate Middleton employ to caravan them to their many royal engagements costs around 11 times as much as the average Brit's annual salary!
"The Bentley is being leased by the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry for official engagements, which is no different to any other member of the Royal family," a royal spokesperson recently told the Daily Mail. "'The Royal Households lease a number of different vehicles from Bentley and Jaguar-Land Rover for use on official duties...We supply current Bentleys for use by a number of members of the Royal Family when the need arises."
The Flying Spur costs a whopping $400,000, E! News reports, able to reach speeds of an incredible 200 miles an hour and featuring a host of luxury features, including "Wi-Fi internet, back seat TV screens, a champagne bottle cooler, hand-crafted walnut wood interior and leather seats with heat and massage capabilities," as well as bulletproof windows and super-protective steel armor. The three-ton car only gets around 19 miles per gallon, but perhaps that's the price of safety when it comes to the Duke and Duchess.
The royal couple most recently used the hefty vehicle to attend a reception last week at London's Natural History Museum, accompanied by security and a personal driver, of course. In addition to the recently leased Flying Spur, Will and Kate also own a Jaguar and a Range Rover, the latter of which they used to transport Prince George home from the hospital in back in July, according to E! News.
