Steam Machine Specs: Valve's New Console Gets Unboxed By Beta Tester (VIDEO)

Valve's first foray into the world of videogame hardware has launched into a new phase of testing as last week the company announced that its Steam Machine console would be shipping to a select 300 users for beta testing. Now, one of those users has recorded his unboxing and first boot up of the device.

YouTube user Corey Nelson decided to record his first moments with the console. In addition to the console hardware itself, he also got his hands on the Valve's new Steam Controller, which was unveiled back in Sept. You can see the full video, including the boot up and unboxing below.

The booting sequence video also shows the Steam Store and Library, which are present directly after the startup sequence. From here, Nelson Loads Klei Entertainment's Don't Starve.

Valve has promised the Steam Machine as being the alternative to console gaming for those who enjoy the in-depth PC experience, or the indie games that come with that particular platform. The Steam Machine's goal is to take that kind of gamer and allow him or her to have that experience on a TV with a controller.

IGN notes that Valve recently released an FAQ answering any potential questions SteamOS users might have, including those about software, hardware requirements and Windows compatibility. So far no price has been announced for Steam Machines as of right now. Vave said it will provide that kind of information and more at CES in January.

Have a look at the two videos below and tell us what you think of the first glimpse of the console hardware from Valve.
