Penelope Cruz Reveals Why Breastfeeding is so ‘Addictive,’ Hopes to Nurse Daughter for 13 Months

Actress Penelope Cruz is opening up about motherhood, breastfeeding and lack of sleep in the new January 2014 issue of Allure magazine. The 39-year-old actress revealed that she loves nursing her children and it's truly "addictive" to her.

"[Nursing] is addictive," she said. "I was breastfeeding my son [for] 13 months, and I plan to do the same with my daughter. It's hard when the day comes when you have to stop."

Cruz and her husband Javier Bardem welcomed a baby girl in July - the same day Prince George was born. They are already parents to 2-year-old Leo. The couple is usually very private about their personal life. Cruz and her husband married in 2010 in a quiet and intimate ceremony.

The actress also confessed to Allure that being a mother and wife has always been a dream of hers because of how she was raised.

"I always knew I wanted a family because of the way I grew up," she explained. "Family has always been the most important thing."

"In my house every Sunday, everybody was cleaning the house," she continued. "There was always music and everybody was dancing, sometimes naked, around the house. Not hippie, but very free."

She also spilled details about her best friend, Salma Hayek, and how they used to joke about sleeping too much before they had children. Now Cruz says getting a good night's rest doesn't come easy.

"She's one of my best friends. We call each other huevos [eggs]," she said. "It was because when we were working together, we didn't have children yet, so we used to sleep much more than now. So it was a way to call each other lazy. We slept in the same bed so many times and it was like she was always trying to wake me up and call me huevos."
