Get ready to bid farewell to your favorite blue-haired songstress, "X-Factor" fans, because as of next season, Demi Lovato will no longer be a judge and mentor on FOX's singing competition.
Earlier this week, Simon Cowell announced during an online conference that there would be a brand new set of judges for season 4 of the U.S. "The X-Factor," meaning that Lovato, Kelly Rowland, Paulina Rubio and perhaps Cowell himself will not be returning in the nationwide talent search.
A source close to 21-year-old Lovato told People magazine that "she plans to spend next year completely focused on her music. She had a great run and a good time," but the show's "demanding schedule conflicts with the singer's plans for 2014."
One of such plans includes her upcoming Neon Lights Tour, featuring opening acts Fifth Harmony, Little Mix and Cher Lloyd, which will kick off on Feb. 9 in Vancouver before continuing in the U.S. More international tour dates will be included as the tour goes on, including South American and, possibly, European and Asian dates and destinations, as is rumored. Rumor also has it that Lovato is planning on switching record labels, though nothing has yet been confirmed.
This year Lovato has been a recurring guest star on "Glee," playing the role of Dani, a struggling NYC artist and the love interest and bandmate of Santana (Naya Rivera). As for continuing to act next year, Lovato told People magazine earlier this year, "I think ultimately my main thing is singing. Maybe movies once in a while, if the right role comes along."
And next year, the singer plans to take the whole month of January off before she embarks on her big tour.
"I want to vacation! I want to watch crime shows on my DVR on my couch," she said. "I need to do some exercising and I don't really have time to do it. I love horseback riding and never get to do that stuff, but January is my time to do all of that."
