Following the massive success of "Captain America: Civil War," the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a really good place. New characters received proper introductions in "Civil War" (Black Panther, Spider-Man), while upcoming debuts are highly anticipated ("Doctor Strange"). But perhaps more importantly, returning characters/properties are a safe bet to keep the good times rolling.
We've known for a while that the third Thor outing, "Thor: Ragnarok," would include Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, though how and why remained a mystery. Those who have been pushing for a Planet Hulk solo film assumed that elements of that story would be adapted for "Ragnarok." They were right.
JoBlo has the latest scoop on Marvel's upcoming projects: "Since our initial report of Ruffalo appearing as Hulk in the film we've heard rumors of how the story will play out and just how 'Planet Hulk' the film will be. Well, here's what we know: The film will definitely have the Planet Hulk element in it, operating as a kind of mash-up with the Ragnarok story. How Thor ends up on the planet in question is unclear, but he will definitely be involved in some gladiatorial games run by none other than Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster. In terms of Hulk's appearance in this portion of the film, he will be rocking the one-shoulder armor as seen in the comics, so expect him decked out in the familiar Planet Hulk look."
Elsewhere in the MCU, JoBlo also received information on the mysterious villain in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2": "The villain is none other than Ayesha aka Her aka Kismet aka Paragon. Yes, she's gone by many names and had quite a few forms in the comics, but almost always as a blonde goddess-like being."
So, there you have it. "Thor: Ragnarok" will incorporate one of the most popular Hulk storylines, while "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will introduce a new badass female villain. There's still plenty to be excited about in the MCU.
"Thor: Ragnarok" will hit theaters on Nov. 3, 2017. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will arrive on May 5, 2017.
