'Anchorman 2' Reviews: Ron Burgundy's 'Nonsensical' Humor Isn't Enough To Impress Some Critics (TRAILER)

Ron Burgundy and his news casting crew are back in "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues".

The film reportedly provides the same raunchy humor as the original, but critics are mixed about the quality of the movie. The film is certified fresh on RottenTomatoes.com, but some moviegoers were expecting a little more than "nonsensical" laughs. Check out what reviewers had to say and the trailer below.

The Washington Post rates the film 2.5 out of 4 stars:

"One of the delights of "Anchorman 2" is its willingness to go a little crazy, at one point sending Burgundy on a sojourn to a lighthouse with unexpected results, and culminating in an all-news throwdown that plays like an orgy of in-jokes and escalating funny cameos. It wouldn't be a Ron Burgundy movie without that set piece, as nonsensical an instant classic as his also de rigeur jazz flute solo (on ice, no less)."

The Miami Herald calls the film "unimaginative":

"The Legend Continues has some good bits - there's a hilarious early sequence in which the four friends are sitting around chatting in Ron's Winnebago and suddenly realize no one is driving the vehicle - but most of the movie feels like a lazy vanity project, a picture that coasts on the reputation of the original. And at nearly two hours, the film is wildly overlong (producer Judd Apatow is like the Peter Jackson of comedies; he never knows when to quit). The lack of effort, right down to the unimaginative title, is dispiriting."

RottenTomatoes.com audience viewers certified the film fresh with 78 percent rating:

"It's even more pointless & filled with stupidity than its cult-like predecessor. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, regardless of its obvious flaws, was just as hysterical and raunchy as the first. The film's baffling dialogue, surprising cameos and charm from Mr. Will Ferrell and his gang reminds us why the first film was so demanding for its sequel and why this installment is arguably just as laughable, if not more," Eugene Bernabe wrote.
