Gamers could see two new "Assassin's Creed" titles in 2014 for current-gen and last-gen consoles.
According to The Examiner, "sources familiar with these projects, it has come to fruition that Ubisoft has two Assassin's Creed titles planned for 2014; one being a next-gen (PlayStation 4/Xbox One) exclusive while the other designated for the current crop of now last-generation consoles (PlayStation 3/Xbox 360)."
Ubisoft has not confirmed how many "Assassin's Creed" titles will be released in 2014, if any. However, they game developers have launched an "Assassin's Creed" game every year since 2009.
Still, Ubisoft North American president Laurent Detoc told IGN the company is not willing to rush their "Assassin's Creed" titles to meet the one year release mark.
"If we think we've ended up with a 70 percent Assassin's Creed game, we're not going to ship it," Detoc told IGN. "That damages the brand. I'm not going to give you the names of products, because you know them as well as I do, but if you start to make games at 70 percent, even with a big brand, eventually people are going to change their mind about that brand. They won't want it anymore. That's what saves the recurrence."
Detoc told the tech site the developers are solely focused on the quality of their games. The company wouldn't want to delay an "Assassin's Creed" title release across all platforms, but would do so if the quality of the game was not up to their standards.
"You bring something fresh, but you have to bring quality too," Detoc told IGN. "There's a lot of people who can play your game. We have fans who come back to the franchise and we're very thankful for them, because we think we're giving them a good game to play, and they give back to us when they buy it. But there's a lot more people out there who we can sell games to."
