When Daniel Craig made a public announcement that he would already hang his Spy suit in May this year, speculations poured regarding the names that would replace him as the next James Bond.
With the long list of possible choices, actor Tom Hughes was reportedly the one likely to be tipped to play the sought-after 007 spy agent.
With reports from Mirror UK, it has been rumored that the actor has caught the interest of producer Barbara Broccoli after he was casted as MI5 operative in BBC's The Game.
According to a reliable source, Barbara has been vocal about his appreciation and impression of Tom in the show. The producer thought Tom is extremely talented and now speculations are saying that she has been watching all his shows to determine if he suits the role.
On the list, other actors are also tipped to play the next Mr. Bond which included Aidan Turner, Idris Elba, Damian Lewis, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Jason Statham, Tom Hiddleston, Michael Fassbender, Chris Hemsworth, James Norton and many more.
Meanwhile, Hiddleston put the Bond rumors to rest after telling that he was just misinterpreted because he plays a spy in the Night Manager and people started to create a link.
He added that as far as his knowledge is concerned, the position is not yet vacant and that nobody has talked to him about any offer for the role.
However, Sony is said to be very desperate in extending Daniel Craig's services in two more Bond films while they will look for a younger long-term replacement. It is reported that the management can't just afford to lose him that soon more so that this time is considered as the crucial time in the franchise.
As noted by The Week, Craig said that he would rather prefer to have his wrists get slashed than reprising his role as James Bond. This was followed by his decision to turn down a £68M deal for the two more Bond movies.
It has been greatly speculated that Daniel Craig's time as James Bond has come to an end, that's why names are already showing up for his possible successor.
