'Fast and Furious 8' Update: Charlize Theron to act as villain

With its powerhouse cast, there is no refuting that "Fast and Furious 7" was indeed a box office success. Though it had humble beginnings with less-known casts at the start, the inclusion of high-profile Hollywood star Charlize Theron signifies how fruitful the series had turn into.

There are fewer details about the upcoming movie that were revealed except on its released date which was apparently on April 17, 2017.

As "Fast and Furious 8" premiers 2017, Theron will be joining long-time casts Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodrigues, Elsa Pataky, Kurt Russell, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Helen Mirren among others.

It was reported in Variety that the production staff already had Charlize in mind even when the Fast 8 story was written.

According to Road and Track, Theron, who will take the role of Cipher, will be the group's biggest threat in the movie.

Fans already had a first look at Theron's character in the newest instalment of the film's franchise. With photos shared by the movie's official Twitter account, the actress can be seen walking into a chamber of guns, exhibiting a ponytail, jacket, and a Metallica T-shirt.

Scott Eastwood was also casted and is expected to play Kurt Russell's partner. On top of this, there are also speculations that Eva Mendes will return as customs agent Monica Fuentes and Lucas Black will reprise his role as Sean Bowell in Tokyo Drift.

Another interesting rumor is that Paul's brother, Cody will also have a role. Gary Gray has been agreed to helm Fast 8 while Neal Moritz and Diesel is also on board to produce it.

Theron first confirmed that she will be joining "Fast and Furious 8" last April.
