The drama about hip hop entertainment industry "Empire" enters new season this month, and the fierce rivalry between Lucius Lyons' sons escalate even more. Singer Mariah Carey also makes an appearance as guest star.
"Empire" Season 3 will have to give more rivalry and conflicts than previous season. The final episode of last season gave viewers a brutal brawl between Lucius family members - one of them fell from the roof, as reported by The Inquisitr. But, the one fell is still unknown.
In this new season, the series is back with more fierce contemporary issues and escalating tension between siblings. According to Entertainment Weekly, "Empire" Season 3 will tackle Black Lives Matter issues, as one of the Lucius son finds himself racially profiled by the police.
The series was debuted in January last year with focus on the live of a former drug dealer that turn into hip hop mogul with his company Empire Entertainment.
"Empire" has a list of strong actor as cast members from Terence Howard, Jussie Smollett, Trai Byers, Malik Yoba, Bryshere Y. Gray and Taraji P. Henson.
Its story revolves around Lucius Lyons (Howard) who tried to prepare his three sons Andre (Byers), Jamal (Smollett), and Hakeem (Gray) to succeed him in leading Empire Entertainment.
The three of them has different character and it soon becomes a rivalry between them. Their mother, Lucius ex-wife Cookie (Henson) was just released from prison after serving 17-year sentence for drugs trafficking to finance Lucius career.
The head of A&R division in Empire, Annika (Gealey) is the arch-enemy of Cookie. She once engaged to Lucius when Cookie was in prison, but they broke off the engagement and separated.
"Empire" has become the biggest hit for Fox and according to Howard in an interview with Forbes, he wished to see the series to go the distance.
"I'm sure if they're making enough money off this show. We'll make it to Empire 12."
"Empire" Season 3 will premiere Sep. 21 at 9 p.m.on Fox.
