New Nintendo 3DS XL features legendary Pokémon: Where to buy and what to expect

If there's anything Pokémon fans raving about aside from Niantic's "Pokémon Go," it's the release of the newest of the core series, "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon."

"This year marks the 20th anniversary of the beloved Pokémon series and people have never been talking about Pokémon more," said Nintendo of America's vice president of sales and marketing Doug Bowser, according to Nintendo. "Playing Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon on this new Pokémon system is the best way for fans to show their love for this iconic series."

The fun doesn't end there. To help gamers break in to the system, Nintendo has decided to release the console ahead of time. The new Nintendo 3DS XL will arrive in stores on October 28, starting with the suggested retail price of $199.99. It will come in a limited-edition system that features the newest Legendary Pokémon, Solgaleo and Lunala.

Aside from the spanking slick cover, the new Nintendo 3DS XL features the following upgrades: face-tracking 3D (which gives you better 3D images and videos), new controls (C stick, ZR and ZL buttons), built-in amiibo support, improved CPU performance, data sharing over wireless networks, and a better camera.

On the other hand, the new Nintendo 3DS XL wouldn't be complete with the upcoming Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Both games will take place in Alola Region, equipped with many islands for fans to explore. It features the new battle system known as Battle Royal, awe-inspiring new Z-move, and the Poké Ride, which allows you to ride specific Pokémon (similar to Pokémon Go's buddy system without the distance and candy incentive.

Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon will launch on November 18 and Nintendo offers gamers a Dual Pack that comes with both new games and codes to give you free 100 Poké Balls in each game. The suggested retail price for the Dual Pack is $79.99.

Pokémon Sun is available for pre-order here, while Pokémon Moon can be availed here.
