‘Wayward Pines’ Season 3 Spoilers: Crouch hints extinction of human race

Even if Fox's Dana Walden revealed that the management of the show has given her a convincing reason to renew the series, still "Wayward Pines" Season 3 is up in the air.

Fox Television Group shared to the guests during the summer press tour of Television Critics Association that there could be a possibility that "Wayward Pines" will return with its Season3.

It can be recalled as per TV Line that the show's Season 2 did not merit a satisfactory rating so concern arises that the next season might suffer the same fate.

Even if the show suffered poor ratings in its second season, Walden stated that "Wayward Pines" is still regarded as the top scripted show of the summer that earned an average of 2.4 million viewers. She added that ratings nowadays are getting more complex as DVR playback and streaming are also included and thus taken into account.

Walden emphasized, "We don't know yet what we're going to find when the multi-platform numbers roll up, ultimately how big that audience [can be]."

She also shared that the management and producers have given her a convincing plot for the third season. This story, according to her, pleases her a lot that's why they are already discussing the show at this moment.

It can be noted that Season 1 of "Wayward Pines" had brought the viewers to a town and the reason it was built. The second season, on the other hand, showed more of the Aberrations. However, the season concluded with a case wherein mankind is going back into an extended hibernation.

Therefore, "Wayward Pines" Season 3 might answer the question on whether humans will survive or they will be doomed into extinction.

This is what story writer, Crouch is hinting in his interview at Zap2lt. He further shared that the show is about mankind and the concept that humans' time here on the planet is not really infinite.

As Wayward Pines Season 3 is still under discussion, fans are already informed that the plot shall point to struggles of humans and their possible extinction.
