"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," the upcoming spin-off film from Star Wars universe will see actress Valene Kane play the role of Lyra Erso, Jyn Erso's (Felicity Jones) mother. Kane let this information slip during an interview and now Jyn's parentage is almost confirmed.
The spin-off movie, all set to be released this December, will see Kane essaying Lyra Erso, reports Digital Spy. The actress made the revelation during an interview with Belfast Live and said that she could not believe it until she started filming in Iceland. Talking about the movie, she said that it has a really edgy independent vibe, which makes it sound even more intriguing.
Notably, Kane is three years younger to Jones and thus, it is speculated that she will be playing Lyra in flashbacks. As for the father of Jones, it is known that Mads Mikkelsen will be playing the role of Galen and he is behind the design of the Death Star.
Meanwhile, it is being said that director J.J. Abrams might have ruined the "Star Wars" plans of Disney, reports BGR. This happened after Disney CEO Bob Iger said that he does not expect Rogue One (Disney's first Star Wars movie) to match the box office collection of "The Force Awakens" despite the high interest of the audience in the upcoming spin-off.
Reputed daily The Guardian doubted Abrams' storytelling and wondered if he has made a mistake by sticking to solo story and Skywalker in episode VII.
As for Bob's doubts about '"Rogue One," they have arisen because the movie tells the story of regular people inhabiting the Star Wars universe. It does not revolve around Jedi knights and lightsabers. Rather it is about rebel fighters, who are behind the destruction of the Death Star. Therefore, some might feel that the movie lacks the dynamic flavor of "Star Wars."
However, it does not look like the movie will bomb at the box office. The reviews are in its favor and it is sure to receive a warm reception from the audience.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" releases in theaters on Dec. 16, 2016.
