After a fairly successful couple of years, it's now apparently true that all electronics manufacturers are trying their hands at wearable segment. This is due to the upcoming popularity among the consumers, mainly to stay connected to the interwebs even if their phones are not with them currently.
However, Samsung Electronics is really getting serious with the competition, considering the potential in this new segment of electronics. Samsung announced its new smartwatch Gear S3, their wearable segment smartwatch after the successful sales of popular smartwatch Gear S2. They are supposedly coming out at the IFA 2016 which also included a rugged edition of the smartwatch.
The Gear S3 will also be minimalistic, along with an analogue look. It has a stainless steel bezel if one has seen some of the pre-production pieces. It is fair to believe that it's being targeted towards the professional individuals and tech enthusiasts.
The S3 classic edition will carry a 46mm steel cases which is bigger than its predecessor. All editions of the S3 will come out with IP68 water-proofing certifications. This means that the hardware can withstand about 30 minutes of water immersion up to a depth of 1.5m.
There are differences in connectivity, too, with LTE reportedly a thing in smartwatches now which people may find it convenient. The gear S3, however, comes with a SUPER AMOLED screen which should have the best display with sharp screen. This will also carry a layer of Corning's gorilla SR+ protection.
There will be plenty of strap options which users might not worry about. It is believed that there will be 15 watch faces available at launch which we have to find out at the time of launch. It's also reported that users can now make use of the rotating bezel to make sure if they want to receive or reject a phone call.
But it's now opened to third-party application developers too which is influential to make sure your hardware will also carry third-party support. Fitness tracking as usual will be obvious with wearables. The upcoming S3 will be nothing short of in terms of implemented sensors.
There will be the usual ambient light sensor in Samsung Gear S3, along with an accelerometer alongside the heart-rate monitor that users saw in Gear S2. An altimeter, barometer and also a speedometer make sure that users are covered with everything as much as possible.
