Samsung Galaxy A8 OS are now available to upgrade to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. But only dual-SIM Galaxy A8 are available to upgrade. With the upgrade, Samsung has also released a 2016 version of the Samsung Galaxy A8 that looks the same but has different features.
Just like most Android companies, Samsung does not offer Android OS updates fast. For mid-range devices, Samsung, a South Korean company, is among the last to provide major OS upgrades.
As is expected, Samsung wants customers who purchased its flagship smartphones to be up to date with the latest operating system releases coming from Google, but because not everybody can afford their flagship smartphones, there are more consumers who own mid-range smartphones which are usually getting updates very late.
Last year, Samsung released a line of mid-range smartphones. One of those is the Samsung Galaxy A8. Users would be happy to know that the Galaxy A8 is now able to have an Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow upgrade.
When it was released in August of 2015, the operating system of the Galaxy A8 was Android 5.1 Lollipop. But even after a year later, they still weren't able to provide the newest OS released by Google and offered and upgrade to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow instead. But even then, not all Galaxy A8 users can upgrade. Only those who owns the dual-SIM version are able to upgrade their smartphones.
But currently, a 2016 version of the Samsung Galaxy A8 is now available. It has the same physical properties as its successor that was released a year before but the features have changed. The newer version is thicker than the successor with its 7.2 mm all metal body.
If compared to the original's 5.9 mm profile, the original is slim and would be considered the slimmest in Samsung's smartphone portfolio. But the reason for the thicker version is because the battery is upgraded to 3,300 mAh battery from the 3,050 mAh power pack found in the original, according to Yahoo.
The 2016 version of Galaxy A8 comes along with a 16-megapixel main camera and an 8- megapixel front camera. The device also runs Android Marshmallow same as the upgradable original.
