Los Angeles Lakers guard Lou Williams is a highly-rated player in the NBA. He was the 45th overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2005 NBA draft. He had his breakout game was during the 2011-2012 season, where he led the 76ers in scoring despite not being a starter, and was the runner-up for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award that year.
From there he never stopped to evolve as a role player after being traded to the Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors. Another breakout season came in his way when he already won the 2015 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award, which made him the first Raptor player to win that award. But after that, it seems that the glow on his career is now stopping as he now finds himself on the trading block.
According to Sportsrageous, William is presumed to be traded by the Lakers either back to the Raptors or to the Cleveland Cavaliers. If ever he will be traded to his former team, it will be a smooth transition for him, having played for the Raptors two years ago.
On the other hand, if ever he'll be traded to the Cavs he'll be a perfect backup for Kyrie Irving or a replacement of J.R. Smith as per stated in the report. Until now Smith has yet to sign with the Cavs due to his failure to agree on some details of his contract. Williams has averaged 15.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists last season - a good substitute for Smith's stats.
In a separate report by the Ecumenical News, another potential team where Williams can land is the Oklahoma City Thunder. The trade scenario is suggesting that Williams will be heading to Oklahoma City in exchange for Thunder's forward Kyle Singler and a second-round pick. The addition of Williams to the Thunder gives great support for their All-Star guard Russell Westbrook.
As for the Lakers, acquiring Singler will give them additional size on their frontcourt and could be a help on the defensive end as well as per stated in the report. Though Singler had a subpar performance throughout his career, this could be his opportunity to play more minutes and be a factor on the Lakers' rotation.
Where will Lou Williams be heading? Could this trade rumor really happen?
