Disney and Lucasfilm have released the latest poster of 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' and it shows the ominous Darth Vader hovering over protagonist Jyn Erso. Present only in the backdrop, his face appears pasted over the Death Star but the upcoming trailer is expected to shed more light on the notorious villain.
Director Gareth Edwards revealed the poster of the movie on The Star Wars Show on Wednesday, reports Cinema Blend. It features Darth Vader in the background while all the main players are in the front. Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) is at the top and the villain is hovering over her. The Death star is also at the forefront but the strange way in which it is overlapped on Jyn's face causes apprehensions.
The poster is, undoubtedly, interesting as it brings in all the dynamic flavors of the Star Wars franchise. However, the fact that it was used to announce the trailer release of the standalone movie, made it seem more interesting.
The trailer has also been unveiled today and it is expected to give more details about the role of Darth Vader. Watch the trailer here:
In other news, it was announced during the Star Wars Show that Marvel's Star Wars: Darth Vader series will be replaced by Star Wars: Doctor Aphra series, states The Hollywood Reporter. It will feature the supporting character in fresh stories, written by Kieron Gillen and Kev Walker.
The latest issue of the magazine also sheds light on the rumors of reshoot and features an interview with Felicity Jones. The actress clarifies the rumors in the interview and says that the speculations about reshoots were misleading. She states that when one comes to the edit, one invariably feels that it could be done better and this is exactly what happened with Rogue One too. A big deal was made of it just because the film happened to be Star Wars.
'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' is scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 16.
