Comedian Jay Mohr caught flack for slamming Alyssa Milano's post-baby body during a radio interview after the stars had attended the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards gala in Las Vegas on Dec. 6, and recently apologized to the "Mistresses" actress for his unflattering remarks, Us Weekly reports.
"She was one of the presenters...She's very tiny. In height," Mohr said on air not long after the event. "It seems like she had a baby and said, 'I don't really give a s**t ... I read it on her gut. Somebody sat in the director's chair and was not wearing Spanx and I was like, 'Jesus Christ,'" and referred to Milano as "Melissa what's-her-name."
Milano took to Twitter on Dec. 25 to respond, writing, "@jaymohr37 So sorry you felt the need to publicly fat-shame me. Be well and God Bless. Please send my love to your beautiful wife. You're all lovely. Thank you for your kind words. #Appreciative."
Mohr, who is married to actress Nikki Cox, addressed the insult on his own Twitter on Tuesday.
"She's stunning," he tweeted. "I mistakenly thought the absurdity of what I was saying would have been taken as a joke. #fail."
On his official website, Mohr apologized further, writing, "It wasn't funny. Knowing that Alyssa, as well as her family, friends, fans, and especially her husband, heard things that were hurtful from my mouth crushed me. She has always been one of the kindest, most caring and beautiful people this town has ever seen. I know full well how much words can hurt people, having seen my wife get destroyed by the tabloids. I am embarrassed that I didn't think before I spoke. Alyssa is an extraordinarily beautiful person - both inside and out."
Milano responded with acceptance, tweeting Mohr: "Thank you. Apology accepted."
