It is official. Google has released the Android 7.0 Nougat update for its Nexus devices and it looks like Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi would also be following in the race as it is looking to launch MIUI 9 and the firmware is expected to be based on Android 7.0 Nougat.
A screenshot of MIUI 9 has come up on Weibo and it indicates that the user interface would most likely follow Android 7.0 Nougat, reports BGR. The alleged screenshot does not give out much information about the features of MIUI 9, but it gives away the version number which is 6.9.23. What is more, a post on MIUI forum sheds light on the Xiaomi devices that would be upgraded to MIUI 9.
The names include Redmi 3S, Redmi 3A, Redmi Note 3, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 3, Mi 4s, Mi 4c and Mi 4i, claims Christian Daily. The current sensation Mi 5 is also on the list along with devices Mi Note, Max, and Mi Pad 2. More are also expected to be included and it is speculated that the beta ROM could be released in December or January.
Coming to Android 7.0 Nougat, the seventh version has loads of features that promise better performance in comparison to Marshmallow, the sixth version. From the multi-window feature that lets one run two apps simultaneously to the fresh inline notification that allows one to reply to text messages right from the notification panel, the latest Android OS is buzzing with goodies.
These are definitely a major improvement over the previous Android Marshmallow. Interestingly, MIUI 8, the current user interface of Xiaomi, is also at par with Marshmallow and carries all the good characteristics of Marshmallow. In fact, it offers more such as new photo and video editing tools, T9 dialer with Hindi search, integrated caller and SMS ID, etc.
Therefore, it would be interesting to watch out what new add-ons MIUI 9 brings in for users when it debuts. Users are definitely excited for the debut of the user interface and though the tentative list of devices is out, it can change anytime. Nevertheless, it will spell gains for users.
