IBM: Managing PCs more expensive than iMacs

Apple will announce new Macs next week. Many companies will rush to buy them and there is valuable information supplied by IBM that indicated that purchasing the new devices will be a good decision - a $535 saving.

IBM has declared that it saves a lot of money by deploying Macs, much more than it had previously thought. At first, IBM claimed last year that it was going to save $270 per Mac but now, the accurate statistic is $535. That is almost twice more!

IBM VP of Workplace Fletcher Previn said in a conference that 90,000 employees are now using Macs, three times more than in 2015. The number of employees using Macs will increase to 100,000 by the end of year and it will keep growing.

There are many reasons for this. It is not just about money. Technology plays a key role too. Apple has better software and it has to be updated less frequently. Previn declared that they have to manage the Mac environment 104 times fewer than a PC in a year.

In mobile devices, we observe that 65 percent of iOS users run the latest OS. On the other hand, 60 percent of Android users are running an OS that's at least two years old.

In early 2015 IBM began to replace Pcs by Macs. IBM gave their employees the choice to upgrade when their kit needed upgrading. Previn stated that most employees decided to do it and the data shows that 73 percent of employees will choose a Mac when they have the chance to do it.

The executive said that today the Macs are the standard at IBM, Japan and PCs are the exception. This trend will take place in the rest of the company because Mac has many competitive advantages such as quality and price.
