The New England Patriots are one of the teams that many say have two potent QB in the league today, Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo. Brady is hailed to be the greatest quarterback of all time by many analyst and experts. Having won 4 Super Bowl championship, 3 Super Bowl MVP and 2 NFL MVP, there's no doubt that Brady will be a Hall of Famer one day.
On the hand, Garoppolo was seen to be one of the quality quarterbacks on the list during the draft day. And true to his billing, he became a dependable backup for Brady.
After Brady was suspended by the league for four games due to Deflategate, coach Bill Belichick assigned Garoppolo to start in QB spot and he didn't disappoint the team leading the team to a 3-1 record.
But after three years with the team, rumors are spreading that Garoppolo might be on a new team one of this day. According to Sportsrageous, now that Brady is back in the fold for the Patriots they might consider to trade Garoppolo to get a future draft pick.
The report also says that the Patriots might go through the same scenario the San Francisco 49ers did in 2014 when the 49ers traded QB Alex Smith for two second round picks. This might encourage the Patriots to do same the thing to get future assets.
But the report also hinted that the Patriots might also keep Garoppolo since Brady is in his twilight years of his career and this season could be his last. But there's also a possibility that Garoppolo may ask the Patriots to trade him if he sees a better playing opportunity with other teams.
An earlier report by iSportsTimes also linked Garoppolo to be traded to the Cleveland Browns. This is after Browns starting QB Robert Griffin III suffered a shoulder injury that will most likely end his career. And now, holding a 0-6 record the Browns might pursue Garoppolo and make a bold move to trade their first-round pick for him.
Will the New England Patriots release Jimmy Garoppolo after Tom Brady's comeback? Will the Cleveland Browns strike a deal with the Patriots to acquire Garoppolo?
