CES 2014: Samsung Unveils 2 New Tablet Devices, It's All About The S Pen

Samsung helped get the ball rolling at this year's CES 2014 by unveiling a pair of 12.2-inch tablets, the Galaxy TabPro and the Galaxy NotePro. To help get people excited to purchase these new tablets, the company is offering free, limited subscriptions to services such as Bloomberg Businessweek+, Dropbox, Evernote and the New York Times.

Both tablets feature 2,560 x 1,600 Super clear LCDs, 3GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB configurations with microSD card support. The tablets will be available with either Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor for the WiFi only version and 3G models or a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 chip for LTE models, according to IGN.

The main difference between the two tablets, as expected by many, is the inclusion of the S Pen, Samsung's Wacom digitizer, which is reserved for the Galaxy NotePro only. For those wondering if the S Pen stylus deserves a product all its own, the answer is yes. The S Pen isn't just a gimmick, it comes with a bevy of software features like Air Command and a variety of note taking and drawing apps that make it worthwhile and unlike any other stylus on the market. The pen is especially useful for navigating the Android operating system. Each tablet comes equipped with Android 4.4 KitKat, the latest version of the Google-powered OS.

On the back of each of the devices, Samsung will feature the same fake leather backing that it originally used for the Galaxy Note 3, the smartphones foray into the world of phablet technology.

The two tablets weren't necessarily the only thing Samsung unveiled at its Pre CES unveiling. The South Korean tech giant also announced a 10.1-inch and 8.4-invh version of the Galaxy TabPro, all of which will be available starting at the beginning of this quarter. Pricing for the Samsung Galaxy TabPro (in all sizes) and the Galaxy NotePro has not yet been announced.
