La Liga (Week 9): Real Madrid back on top as Sevilla overtakes Barcelona on second spot

The scoring drought continue to blow Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo as he remained scoreless for the last 39 days at the Santiago de Bernabeau.

But the Los Blancos remained on top of the La Liga table as the supporting casts like Karem Benzema, Gareth Bale and Alvaro Morata were able to find the net when Madrid needed it most. With CR7 not in form but Madrid continue to secure a win, the Galacticos showed a refreshing and force to reckon Mardid lineup for this La Liga season.

Sevilla stun Atletico Madrid

Sevilla handed Atletico Madrid its first loss of the season, while maintaining their unblemished record at home. The reinforced ranks of Sevilla with Sanchez Pizjuan and their newly appointed coach Jorge Sampaoli would make the team a title contender for this La Liga season, up against perpetual contenders Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. With its one goal per game average, Sevilla would definitely be in the championship conversation if they don't burn out until March 2017.

Barcelona drops to third

With winger Andres Iniesta out for six to eight weeks due to ligament injury, the Barca could suffered serious blows on its matches until the end of November. At Week 9 of the La Liga Season, the Catalan side already showed weakness, narrowly escaped Mestalla, 3-2 win but vowing to Valencia amid their superpower attackers Leonil Messi, Neymar Jr. and Luiz Suarez. A home match against Granada next weekend, followed by a trip to Manchester City, an away match to Sevilla and a home match against Malaga post huge problems against Barcelona.
