NFL News: Cleveland Browns lost to Bengals as QB Cody Kessler suffered concussion

The Cleveland Browns was again struck by bad news this time. After two of their quarterbacks was sidelined due to injury, Cody Kessler adds up to the misery of QB's for the Browns this season.

Earlier reports have mentioned that the Browns already lost starting QB Robert Griffin III due to a shoulder injury he suffered during a game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. Another setback came when backup QB Josh McCown also suffered a shoulder injury during a game against the Baltimore Ravens.

This put Cody Kessler in the starting QB from Week 3 after losing both quarterbacks. But now, Kessler goes through the same fate with his fellow QB after suffering a concussion in a loss to Bengals.

According to Chronicle Telegram, rookie Kessler left the game with 7:27 remaining in the second quarter during a 31-17 loss to the Bengals last Sunday. The incident happened when Kessler is making a play and was tackled by the defensive end Carlos Dunlap. Kessler then bumped to defensive tackle Domata Peko who brought him down the ground.

With Kessler was taken out of the game, Browns coach Hue Jackson use rookie quarterback Kevin Hogan for the first time. The report also says that Hogan was the sixth quarterback that coach Jackson utilizes in seven games. Though Hogan only completed 12 of 24 passes for 100 yards with two interceptions, he surprised everyone in the team making a good impression in running the offense as per stated in the report.

NFL.com also reported that Browns coach Hue Jackson announced that the team place Cody Kessler on concussion protocol. Coach Jackson also told reporters that ex-QB starter Josh McCown is now practicing with the team but it is still unclear if he will start on the Browns next game.

The report also says that with Hogan only the fit quarterback in the lineup, the Browns make a move in adding former Packers and Saints quarterback Joe Callahan to their rosters. The Browns claim Callahan after the Saints waived him last week.

Can Cody Kessler recover immediately from his concussion to join the Cleveland Browns?
