The 2016 CMA Awards - the 50th edition of the awards show, hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood - drew the finest of country singers and musicians under one roof. Chris Stapleton was there. Alan Jackson was there. Beyonce was there.
The International Business Times reported that Carrie Underwood, who was also the host, sang "I Will Always Love You" as a tribute to Dolly Parton. She was joined by Martina Mcbride, a famous country singer. The report said that Garth Brooks took away the night's biggest award, the home entertainer of the year, and the fans went into a tizzy.
It was Beyonce who stole the show.
The report said the last minute decision to add her to the performance met with some controversy. Conservative pundit Tomi Lahren had doubts about Beyonce's values suiting that of the CMA. But Beyonce's fans went past the negativity, and celebrated the 10-time Grammy winner's ability to surpass boundaries. Beyonce performed "Daddy Lessons" from the Lemonade album with the Dixie Chicks.
The show got off to a great start with gems like Charley Pride singing "Kiss an Angel Good Morning", Reba McIntyre performing "Fancy", and Alan Jackson rendering "Don't Rock The Jukebox", a number of hits from the 50 years of the Country Music Association, the Billboard reported.
The report added that the stars paid Dolly Parton a tribute for her Willie Nelson achievement award, with Jennifer Nettles and Pentatonix for "Jolene", an emotional "9 to 5" by Reba Mcintyre and "Here You Come Again" by Kacey Musgraves.
The legends reportedly got their due with Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood's belted out a medley of classics such as " Jackson" and "Don't make my brown eyes Blue".
The evening's standout performance was reportedly Maven Morris who performed "My Church" along with the Preservation hall jazz band and the Mccrary sisters.
The International Business Times reported that Miranda Lambert performed "Vice" and enthralled fans with her powerful voice.
Luke Bryan added to the fun, with a stellar performance of "Move". Thomas Rhett performed his romantic single, "Die a Happy Man."
