Newest Animal Crossing: New Leaf adds Amiibo support, more mini games

Nintendo has recently held an Animal Crossing-themed Nintendo event, and through that occasion, we learned the full details regarding the game's huge new update. The update is totally free and is available now for download. This update packs a lot of new things for to check out.

Amiibo Support

First up on the list is the much-awaited Amiibo support, which has been more expansive than we anticipated at first. In line with featuring full support for the 16 Animal Crossing amiibo that are currently available, amiibo from other franchise games like The Legend of Zelda are also supported. By using amiibo from other franchises, it will enable players to unlock in-game items that will be relevant to their respective games.

New Mini-games

Next one on our list is the addition of two new mini-games called Puzzle League and Desert Island Escape. For players to be able to unlock these mini-games, they need to find two different items, which is a Nintendo 3DS XL or New Nintendo 3DS for Puzzle League, and the in-game Wii U console for Desert Island Escape. You can easily acquire these items via purchasing fortune cookies from Nooklings' shop, or by simply scanning for any Animal Crossing Amiibo.

MEOW

Accompanying all of these updates is a new in-game currency called MEOW or 'Mutual Exchange of Wealth' coupons, which players can spend at a new area called Harvey's Campground. To earn this currency, you need to be completing either the daily or weekly town initiatives. Some minor features were also announced, including an all-new amiibo camera mode, a new storage space that is accessible from the player's home, and the ability to arrange and configure home furniture with the use of the 3DS touch screen.

Release Date

While the update is available, as of now, for free, it will also come as pre-installed into the brand new re-release of the game called Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Welcome amiibo. This new version of the game will be launched on Dec. 2
