Capcom has recently confirmed that Akuma will be the next character to join Street Fighter 5's roster of characters. The newest Street Fighter character was announced right after the conclusion of the Red Bull Battlegrounds tourney in Seattle. A teaser trailer on the character was shown during the event, which also revealed a new stage for the game: A rainy scenery that features a dilapidated temple in the distance.
What's on the trailer?
In the teaser, Akuma is shown executing his signature move, Shun Goku Satsu, depicted as a bloody red eye darting around in the dark as the violent sounds of kicks and punches can be heard in the background. Japanese Kanji suddenly appeared behind the character's back, which completed the iconic pose.
The Kanji symbol has been altered
Fans have noticed that the Kanji symbol is pretty different from the one that has been commonly seen on Akuma's back and is visibly closer to the one used for Capcom Vs. SNK 2. For everyone's information, the Kanji is a reference to heaven, but this time it meant 'God,' according to Eventhubs. This change has led to some rumors and speculation on how he might be played, specifically in terms of what his V-Trigger activation could possibly be. The current thinking is that it could possibly allow him to transform into Shin Akuma, and enter a more powerful state, a move that is similar to Necalli.
Akuma will be playable during PlayStation Experience
Although Capcom has not yet announced any more details regarding the upcoming character, nor an official release date for Akuma, the character is going to be playable at PlayStation Experience. This said the event is set to take place on Decembers 3 and 4 at the Anaheim Convention Center. As a recall, in September, Capcom officially added Urien to Street Fighter 5 through a surprise update that also featured a daily targets feature.
