"True Blood" co-stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, who are married in real life, are hitting the silver screen together in the new film "Free Ride," in which Paquin plays a drug-smuggling mom in late-'70s Florida named Christina, which the star recently discussed with CBS News.
"Christina is unconventionally just trying to be a good mother," said Paquin. "It might not look the same as everybody else's childhood, but she's this incredible survivor."
A mother of two girls struggling with poverty, Paquin's character Christina enters the drug trade with the help of a friend (Drea DeMatteo) to try and make a better life for her children, only to discover that entering the drug underworld of South Florida has its price.
Opening tomorrow Jan. 10 in limited release, "Free Ride" is the first feature film in which 31-year-old Paquin and 44-year-old Moyer star together, both stars credited as producers of the project directed by actress Shana Betz.
Though "Free Ride" has yet to receive an official critical consensus on RottenTomatoes.com, so far it has received mostly negative reviews for lacking momentum despite its compelling narrative based on a true story.
