Sacramento Kings superstar DeMarcus Cousins is targeted again by trade rumors swirling around the league today. Rumors are saying that he could be on his way to the Denver Nuggets before NBA trade deadline in February.
Cousins, who've been to numerous trade rumors as of late, was reportedly being placed by the Kings to the trading block. Rumors are floating that general manager Vlade Divac and team owner Vivek Ranadive are secretly dealing Boogie to different teams but the Kings organization denies the speculation. But now, reports are spreading that he could be heading to the Denver Nuggets this time.
According to Sportsrageous, the Nuggets are interested in acquiring Boogie from the Kings in exchange for three players. Trade scenario is suggesting that the Denver Nuggets will send Danilo Gallinari, Jusuf Nurkic, and Jameer Nelson to the Sacramento Kings for DeMarcus Cousins. And as per checking on ESPN Trade Machine, this works under NBA trade rules making it a legal trade deal.
The report also says that it would be best to trade Boogie now while he is still a high-value player. Both the Nuggets and Kings is in a slump right now and it is a great option to make the swap right now while the season is still early.
If ever the trade pushes through, it could be a reunion of sorts for DeMarcus Cousins and Nuggets head coach Mike Malone who coached Boogie while he is still in Sacramento. Chemistry will not be in question for Cousins as he is already accustomed to coach Malone system. And it is exciting to see his tandem with Kenneth Faried who've been teammates in the 2014 US Basketball team.
On the separate report by Jobs & Hire, Shaquille O'Neal, who is also a minority owner of the Sacramento Kings, describe Cousins as a "hot head" with "lacking leadership" kind of a player. He also hinted if the situation will not change in Sacramento he might be released one of this day.
As for Gallinari, he's been targeted by other teams for the past two years but the Nuggets always reject the offer as they felt that bid didn't match to his value as per stated in the report. But this time around, the Nuggets might pull the trigger to trade away Gallinari.
Will Sacramento Kings DeMarcus Cousin could be heading his way to the Denver Nuggets?
