Apple was recently rumored to release new iMacs with its new specs and features.
Speculations about the new iMacs featuring an AMD Radeon Polaris graphics chips and a VR-ready start to circulate online fueling excitement to tech-savvy customers and fans.
It may be noted that Apple last updated its iMacs on Oct. 13, 2015, by bringing the Retina screen to the smaller Macs for the first time. They also equipped the larger models with a new Skylake processor chips. Now, the news about the latest updates on iMacs promises better features and tech specs.
Despite the Apple iMac not being released nor announced during Apple's event last Oct. 27, fans are still hopeful that the Cupertino-based tech company will be announcing the device relatively soon.
Rumors and speculations regarding the iMac 2017 are still continuing to spread the internet. Recent reports regarding the device claim that the Kaby Lake processor will be one of the newest features that will be incorporated into it.
Intel's website has released a document that provides the explanation on the new Kaby Lake processor that is suitable for desktop computers which could be used in the new iMac and Mac Pro. The document shows 11 quad-core processors which are expected to be released in the first quarter of 2017. Furthermore, there are also seven Core i5 models, three Core i7 processors, and a single Xeon E3 v6 chip including in the lineup.
New iMac 2016 and Kaby Lake
Reports claim that the new iMac will be released before the end of 2016. Fans and customers hope that Apple will announce a Mac Pro update at Apple's Oct. 27 press event, but it only unveiled their pretty fab-looking new MacBook Pro instead.
In October 2015, Retina iMac line utilized the i5-5675R or i7-5775R processors on the low-end 21.5-inch model and the i5-6500, i5-6600, or i7-6700K processors in the 27-inch model. And the corollary processors in the new Kaby Lake family for the 5K iMac processors are the i5-7500, the i5-7600, and the i7-7700K.
Now, the new i5-7500 processor is a quad-core processor that is running at 3.4 GHz, versus 3.2 GHz in the Skylake version. The i7-7700K is a quad-core, eight-thread processor, running at 4.2 GHz, versus 4.0 in the Skylake i7-6700K in the iMac.
