‘Pacific Rim 2’ Update: John Boyega reveals first glimpse of sequel, Charlie Hunnam won’t reprise role

"Star Wars" Episode 8 star John Boyega recently released some behind the scenes footage of "Pacific Rim 2" as it gears up for official production.

The actor joined the "Pacific Rim" cast as actor Idris Elba's son in the sequel. However, apart from acting in the movie, Boyega is also producing it.

The original film was a global success and many believed that with the addition of Boyega, it will only work wonders for the upcoming sequel. While fans have been eagerly waiting for every "Pacific Rim 2 update," the BTS video has already earned more than 230,000 views since it was posted.

About the footage

According to reports, the footage depicted Boyega handling a mold. He dubbed it as his twin and stated how adorable it looks. He was even seen giving it a quick kiss. However, this is not the only time he has made reference to "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom" on his Instagram account. The actor has also shared a photograph of Elba, who plays as his father, Stacker Pentecost, on his account.

Everyone is pumped for the upcoming sequel

The caption of the photo is about Elba's dialogue on canceling the apocalypse. However, Boyega has also added some of his caption on it, saying "My dad said it right the first time but I'll take it from here."

Reports on the upcoming movie stated that Pacific Rim fans were hyped and pumped when they realized Boyega had come on board to play as Elba's son on the upcoming sequel. A lot of other actors have also joined the cast right after Boyega was confirmed for the movie.

Hunnam not returning to reprise role

However, to everyone's dismay, it was also later revealed that actor Charlie Hunnam isn't returning to reprise his role as Raleigh Becket in the sequel. This was right after news that the original director Guillermo del Toro was not directing the sequel movie. The movie is now being directed by Steven S. DeKnight, which is expected to hit theaters in 2018.
