Moto Z, Moto Z Force now Daydream compatible with Android 7.0 Nougat update; Global rollout officially announced

About 0.3% of all Android devices with the Play Store actually have latest Android Nougat. And recently many Verizon customers have reported that their Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Droid Force phones have received OTAs to Nougat. The Moto Z and Moto Z Force are officially getting Android 7.0 Nougat this week, as Motorola just confirmed the global rollout.

Motorola had promised in October that it will roll out Android 7.0 Nougat by the end of this year. Now, Nougat has made its way to Moto Z and Moto Z Force smartphones in the US. "We'll begin rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat globally to Moto Z and Moto Z Force this week," the company stated in a blogpost.

The update brings the device to Android 7.0 Nougat with the November 1st security patch level. The latest update also allows the Z Droid and Z Droid Force to use Daydream mode with joining the ZTE Axon 7 as the only non-Pixel devices with the feature. Also, the update finally brings Camera API 2 support which allows certain applications to more fully control the camera, reports AndroidPolice.

The download file is a huge 1586 MB, so you are suggested to download it over Wi-Fi. As always, software updates roll out over the period of several days, so all owners should receive it shortly.

The update is also compatible with Daydream, which is Google's mobile VR platform. This makes Moto Z and Moto Force first devices apart from Google Pixel, Pixel XL to support the Daydream platform. Daydream View is available at Verizon, Best Buy and the Google Store in the US.

According to TechTimes, apart from Daydream compatibility, the Moto Z and Moto Z Force update will also bring the some of the new features to the phone like improved UI and a better notification system, enhanced battery optimization, Instant Apps, Vulkan API, Google Allo and Duo, seamless system updates, improved multitasking and many more.

Motorola phones that will be receiving the Nougat update are: Moto G Play (4th Gen), Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Droid Turbo 2, Droid Maxx 2, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Play, Moto Z Play Droid and Nexus 6.
