Netflix original political drama web television series, House of Cards, is going to premiere next year with an all-new season that is rumored to feature additional casts and characters that can further excite the fans of the series.
Following the network's announcement on the show's renewal, several speculations about the possible storyline of the season have been heating up online.
According to Den of Geek, it has been reported that fans may expect an additional set of casts and characters on the show. Actress Patricia Clarkson and actor Campbell Scott are two of those that the network had reportedly confirmed but their respective role for the show had not yet been disclosed.
It has also been reported by Deadline, through Yibada, that there are possible major changes on the series as said by Michael Kelly, who is portraying the character Doulas 'Doug' Stamper on the show.
It has been reported that producer Beau Willimon had told him that he could keep Douglas and Francis Underwood (the main protagonist portrayed by Kevin Spacey) fight and destroy each other but he could also make a different story where viewers can see both of them fail.
Additionally, the fifth season is also speculated to see Frank's downfall and Robin Wright's character, Claire Underwood's soar to power. She has done things that previously only Frank can do in the previous season, which means that there is something more that she can probably do.
Following this, it has been rumored that a spinoff series is possible that would focus on this character. It has also been reported by Express UK that the original author of the House of Cards novel and executive producer of the drama series, Michael Dobbs, had been discussing about a possibility of the spinoff.
Moreover, also included in the speculations is a new plot and character on the upcoming season that would base on newly-elected US President, Donald Trump and opponent Hilary Clinton. It had been widely known, especially for the series' fans that the producer Beau Willimon had expressed his utter dislike of Trump as President.
Because of this, fans are wondering if the series is going to have another storyline and characters based on the US politicians. However ,it has not yet been confirmed by the network whether this is going to happen or not.
House of Cards returns with Season 5 some time in 2017.
