“Star Wars Episode 7” casting rumor mills are going strong not even two weeks into 2014. There are five actors in particular who have caught the attention of director J.J. Abrams, but don’t get too excited; he’s meeting with everyone.
According to The Hollywood Reporter sources, the “Star Was” director is keeping an open mind when it comes to casting and wants to meet with “everyone” before making final decisions.
Below are five actors who have reportedly met with the Abrams.
1. Michael Fassbender
THR reports Fassbender has met with Abrams to discuss an unspecified role.
2. Chiwetel Ejiofor
The “12 Years A Slave” actor dodged questions about “Star Wars”, but multiple reports confirmed Ejiofor met with Abrams in 2013. It is unclear if Abrams and the actor discussed a possible role in the “Star Wars” film, but when Yahoo! asked Ejiofor about the seventh installment, he teased:
"Who knows? We'll just have to see. I don't know is really the only answer I can give you.”
3. Jesse Plemons
"Plemons is scheduled to meet with director J.J. Abrams next week to discuss the highly anticipated sequel, which is expected to bring back original stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford," The Wrap reports. "Plemons has already taped an audition that was well-received by those involved in the casting process, and he'll by flying in to Los Angeles from Austin, Texas for a second audition that will bring him face-to-face with Abrams."
4. Adam Driver
THR reports the "Girls" star has allegedly inconsideration for an unspecified role in “Episode 7.”
5. Hugo Weaving
You may remember Weaving from “The Lord Of The Rings” or “The Matrix”, but THR reports he might take on the role of an imperial guard.
Abrams and the rest of the “Star Wars” production team have kept their casting and plot in a shroud of mystery since the film was announced. Neither Disney nor Lucasfilm have confirmed any of the casting rumors.
“Star Wars Episode 7” is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
