Last season, the Indiana Pacers had a 45-37 win-loss record to finished 7th in the Eastern Conference. They lost to the 2nd seed Toronto Raptors in the first round of the playoffs. But many were surprised that they still push the Raptors to the edge as they went all the way to Game 7 despite their huge gap in terms of standings.
Because of this, some analysts believed that the Indiana Pacers will have a breakout season. However at 8-9 win-loss record, the Pacers are in the 8th spot in the East and just 0.5 games ahead of the Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks.
Paul George is playing great as usual. In his 12 games with the Pacers this season, he averages 20.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.8 steals in 34.9 minutes. Second-year standout Myles Turner was also having a breakout year as he average 14.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks.
But despite of that, Pacers is still struggling. They need more offensive firepower. And according to Jobs & Hire, the team suggested that acquiring Anthony Davis will benefit the Pacers. And in exchange, the Pacers could give Thaddeus Young, Rodney Stuckey and Myles Turner as further discussed by Jobs & Hire.
Davis is having the best season of his NBA career. He is averaging 31.3 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and 1.6 steals. He is first in scoring and blocks, 7th in rebounds and 21st in steals. With the way he is playing right now, he is probably in the top 5 NBA players in the league. He just won the Western Conference Player of the Week for Week 4 of the season, as per NBA.com.
But in spite of his individual glory this season, he is still failing in leading the Pelicans to victories. At 6-11, they are 12th in the West. If he will play for the Pacers, he might have a higher chance to be in a winning team.
Both the Pacers and Pelicans are struggling this season. But the Pacers are playing in a weaker Eastern Conference. So he might get a better chance if he plays for the Pacers.
Davis also needs another superstar to compete at a high level. Playing with Paul George is not a bad idea after all. Both players are a two-way player who could defend and score buckets for the team.
After the loss to the Hawks, the Pacers held a players-only meeting with George leading the way, as per Slam Online. And it worked well for them as they won by a large margin on their next game against the Brooklyn Nets in the score of 118-97. That happened despite the fact that George didn't play because of a sore back.
