Poldark Series 3 Update: Here's your first look at new characters, returning cast; Big revelations coming [VIDEO]

Poldark fans were left hanging on the edge of their seats after the final installment of period drama tonight as the BBC released a teaser trailer for the 3rd season of the widely popular drama starring Aidan Turner as the hero, Ross.

New Faces and Returning characters

The trailer has showcased several new faces that are set to star in the popular 18th Century drama, as well as most of the main characters, who are set to make a huge return. Sadly Phil Davis, who portrays the role of Ross' servant Jud Paynter, will not return for the next series but his on-screen wife Prudie (Beatie Edney) will be returning.

Other Characters Coming

Demelza's (Eleanor Tomlinson) brothers Drake (Harry Richardson) and Sam (Tom York) are also set to come back and shake things up when they arrive in Cornwall. Also joining the cast is Ellis Chappell, who will play Elizabeth's (Heida Reed) cousin, Morwenna.

Debbie Horsfield Talks Poldark Season 3

Debbie Horsfield, Poldark scriptwriter, has said in an interview, "We're thrilled to be kicking off series three with a fantastic array of new characters and a story which scale new heights of conflict, feuding, passion and drama."

Elizabeth is Pregnant

Ross is going to be much older but not necessarily wiser and his recklessness will sometimes cost him and his loved ones. We're going to be in for a rollercoaster ride where the stakes have never been higher than before. The end of Poldark season 2 have left many unanswered questions as newly-married Elizabeth is pregnant without knowing who the father is.

Other Big Revelations Coming

Meanwhile, George Warleggan (Jack Farthing), who narrowly avoided a mob lynching, is planning to send Elizabeth's youngest son from her marriage to Francis (Kyle Soller) away to boarding school. The fate of Aunt Agatha (Caroline Blakiston), who suspects Elizabeth's unborn child belong to Ross, is still not known. Poldark Season 3 will be epic.
