Kate Upton was one of several beauties to walk the red carpet at the 50th anniversary celebration of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Calif. on Jan. 14. The 21-year-old model flaunted her curves in a tight black, floor-length gown paired with simple gold jewelry.
Also turning heads on the carpet was Heidi Klum in a red leather trench coat and matching heels, Chrissy Teigen in a shimmery black romper and Tyra Banks in a black, curve-hugging lace gown. Marissa Miller, Ireland Baldwin and Australian model Jessica Gomes was also there.
According to E! News, Upton opted out of doing interviews probably to avoid questions about her romantic life. The model recently split from professional ballroom dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy but was spotted with ex-boyfriend Justin Verlander over the weekend.
Verlander, who is a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, and Upton were photographed at a hockey game in Philadelphia on Jan. 11. The two had box office seats but didn't mention attending the game together on Twitter.
Reportedly they dated at the beginning of last year but had a messy breakup. Following the split the blonde beauty took to Twitter to diss her ex. Over the summer, Upton tweeted a happy birthday message to Frank Viola III, a former athlete and also a good friend of Verlander's.
"Happy birthday to one of my favorite people ever @FrankViola3 !!!" she posted. Right after the tweet Upton uploaded a picture of an e-card that read: "Happy birthday to a friend of a friend who I now like more than the original friend."
Ouch! Guess Upton and Verlander are once again friendly but don't expect her to announce a romance with the baseball player anytime soon. Upton usually keeps quiet about who she's dating. To celebrate the Sports Illustrated anniversary, Upton posed for the magazine in a silver swimsuit in a zero-gravity chamber, the New York Post's Page Six reports.
The magazine also photographed a ton of other models like Tyra Banks, Christie Brinkley, Carol Alt and Bar Refaeli for the issue. The lucky lady who will nab the cover for the 2014 anniversary issue has not been revealed yet.
