A few days ago, we saw the release of Cyanogenmod 14.1 for the Xiaomi Mi Max, which is being considered as stable for regular use. With the installation of the Custom ROM, your phone will be updated to Android 7.1. Right now, we are going to guide you the steps required to get CyanogenMod 14.1 on your device.
Android 7.0 Nougat is the latest Operating System of Google. It comes with the numerous new additions and multi-tasking capabilities. Android 7.0 Nougat went live in August 2016. Some smartphones like Google Pixel, Nexus, and LG models have already been running with Android 7.0 Nougat update. But some brands are still standing in the queues and Xiaomi is one of them.
Before proceeding with the installation you are advised to backup the contents of your device because this tutorial will wipe your data.
For installation, you need to have a rooted Xiaomi Mi Max with custom recovery installed, a Cyanogenmod 14.1 ROM ZIP file, which you can download here, and a Gapps for CM 14.1 that you can download here.
Now follow the below steps to start the installation
- 1.Download all the required files and place them in a folder on your Desktop. After that connect your phone to the computer and copy both files to the root of its internal storage.
- 2. Now reboot your device into recovery mode. To do this, power off your device. Next, press and hold Volume Down + Power until your device boots into Recovery mode.
- 3. During Recovery, navigate to wipe to perform a factory reset. Swipe right to Wipe Data/Factory Reset.
- 4. In the main menu, click on Install and then navigate to the location of the copied files. After that select the ROM zip file and then tap on Add more Zips. Select the Gapps file as well.
- 5. Now swipe right to start the flashing process.
According to TCC, both the files will be flashed in a matter of minutes. Once that is completed, reboot your device and it will boot into Android 7.1.
