Google is finally rolling out the final update to the Android 7.1 Developer Preview before the official and final build releases onto different platforms.
First preview was released in the October and now the new and final update will also support the Google's older devices such as the Nexus 5X and 6P, the Pixel C. Interestingly Google is also throwing the Nexus 9 into the mix.
The final developer preview includes a near-final build of various system behaviours, in which the user interface alongside numerous bugs are fixed and optimizations across Google apps and the system itself is also there.
The final update comes with developer features and the support for API Level 25 that was already introduced in the first developer preview, reports TechTimes.
If you already have an eligible device that is enrolled in Google's Android Developer Program then your device is slated to automatically receive the update. However, if you weren't able to enroll in the beta program then you may still opt for your eligible Android smartphone to receive the developer preview over-the-air.
Additionally, you may also opt to flash the update on your own. To repeat, the second and final developer preview will only be available on Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel C and Nexus 9.
Those enrolled in Android's beta program developers will receive Developer Preview 2 as an automatic over-the-air update. On the other hand, system images are available for manual installation .
You will also have to do without the Google Assistant or the new Pixel Launcher, but you won't get Daydream VR support or the full benefits of Nougat's "seamless update" mechanism.
Google is expected to release the final consumer version of Android 7.1.1 "in just a few weeks." In the December start, the software will roll out to all supported preview devices along with Google's pair of flagships, Pixel and Pixel XL.
